The battle of Saratoga was fought during the autumn of 1777. While considered a civil rebellion by the British to that point, the important American victory at Saratoga is considered the turning point in the American revolution. Shortly after the American victory, the French, and thereafter the Dutch and Spanish allied themselves with the Americans. The battle of Saratoga proved the validity of the American cause to the world.
